Smart Poodle Publishing Announces the Winners of

the 2008 Youngest Travel Writers Contest

All Winning Entries Can be Read at

www.smartpoodlepublishing.com

Smart Poodle Publishing is proud to announce the winners of the 2008 Youngest Travel Writers Contest.
Criteria: Young writers from the USA, ages 5-10, were invited to write a short story about one of their own real life or imaginary travel adventures anywhere in the universe. Stories were to be no longer than 1,000 words. Entries were judged on originality, quality of writing and whether or not the writer followed the contest rules.

Judging: We received a fascinating collection of original stories, some based on real travel experiences and others on imaginary journeys. The judges enjoyed reading every unique entry. Entries with the majority of votes from the 5 judges were chosen. It was very challenging to choose one winner in each category, as there were dozens of talented young writers who submitted their stories. So in addition to the 1st Place winners, we have added an Honorable Mention Category, to feature the runners-up in each age category. Each of our young writers did an outstanding job! She has written online articles recently for momsnetwork.com and education.com. She blogs daily at www.smartpoodlepublishing.com/blog. Her favorite authors are William Shakespeare, JD Salinger, Ayn Rand, Erma Bombeck, J California Cooper and Johnathon Safran Foer. Her favorite novelists are Anne Rice and Pat Conroy. Patty loves taking Karate and spinning classes. She has a talent for attracting stray animals and has done her share of rescuing and nurturing them. Given her line of work, Patty has had the opportunity to travel all over the world and take many amazing photographs along the way

As the Director of Internet Marketing for Smart Poodle Publishing, Rachel manages the company’s websites, writes copy and promoted this writing contest. Having read hundreds of novels herself, Rachel can really appreciate good writing. She is a skilled writer and has several pen pals, writing very creative, old-fashioned snail mail letters. Rachel’s favorite authors are Phillip Pullman, Ayn Rand, Terry Gooodkind, Stephanie Meyer, Nick Bantock and poet Billy Collins. In addition to reading and music she likes to play tennis, ride her bike, go geocaching, and hang out with her Smart Poodle, Gigi.
