Such a SWEET LIFE! Review & GIVEAWAY

So far, as a part of Book Week (should be Book Weeks!) I have told you about a fun Coming Unglued, the adorable Precious Girls Club, how to journal in Note to Self, and how to go for the gusto with the First LEGO League.

Now you are in for a real treat! Author Mia King has recently released a new book - Sweet Life. Let me tell you a little about it.

From the book: "When her husband gets a new job, Marissa Price leaves the island of Manhattan for the island of Hawaii. Paradise seems like the perfect place to find herself, save her marriage, and reconnect with her daughter. But Marissa discovers her new life is less about beaches and beautiful sunsets and more about cows and lava flows. Their new "home" is a fixer-upper. But what most needs fixing—her marriage— is the first thing to crumble when her husband announces he wants time apart to find himself. Pulled in opposite directions, Marissa is faced with the most important decision of her life—a choice that will define who she is, what she wants, and where her happiness lies."

I was lucky to converse with Mia via email and I tell you, I feel as though we met in person. After reading her book, I now know that she has infused her characters with that same warmth and personality that I felt from her. This is one of those page-turner type books...you know, the kind that you just cannot put down although there are a million other things you should be doing.

Marissa, the heroine, comes up against the need to decide what is truly important in life, most important in marriage and family and find the way to prioritize for maximum contentment. Marissa also deals with the importance of friendships and the ability we have as women to be helpful to each other - it helped me learn a lot about what Ohana really means.:)

Learning more about the Hawaiian people, their culture, words and sayings, as well as the recipes, was truly an added bonus. If you love to cook then wait until you read Mia's recipes! She puts recipes in every book and for Sweet Life, she complied a list of recipes that will inevitably make your mouth water.

In short, Sweet Life is a feast for the heart, soul and palate so be sure to get a hold of a copy. Oh and be sure to pick up Mia's first novel, Good Things as well as her her third novel, Table Manners, when it comes out in August of 2009! Sweet Life can be purchased at Amazon.com for $11.20.
